T’is the Season for Egg Nog

My local liquor store ran out of egg nog ealier this month.  Awe, it is such a nice treat.  Get the Pennsylvania Dutch brand.  It’s the best I’ve tried.  It’s blend of whiskey, rum and brandy, mixed with dairy cream.  The other brands mix other ingredients and are just not as good.

  • KC trip & Buc-ee’s Still Not Open

    Buc-ee's sign

I stopped at this Madisonville, Texas Buc-ee’s twice and it’s still not open.

Okay, the second time was intentional so I could get a picture of a new Buc-ee’s.  Who want’s to attend their grand opening?  No I’m not going to wear a Buc-ee’s costume at the next Kansas City Family Weekend dance.

I’m back from my KC trip, with lunch in Southlake northwest of Dallas, a detour from I-35E, toward I-45, west on I-30, past Waxahachie on I-35E and a stop in Waxahachie, Texas to say I’ve been where the Superconducting Super Collider was going to be.  I got a ring location map similar to this one.

    TG and A .com

TG and A .com were used as short hand in e-mail.  I, a perennial literalist, looked up their DNS information.  ”TG.com” does work!  ”A.com” doesn’t. nslookup results below.

Google define: indicates perennial implies a plant. I’m not a plant. May I should say I’m a perpetual literalist.

  • Ike: Rebuild?

Over three months after Hurricane Ike struck Houston, much damage remains unrepaired.  Most noticeable are the signs.  A Michiginian wonders how an out-of-towner can navigate Houston with the highway signs down.  Some huge highway signs on the north side of Houston are still down.  A small business plumbing supply store rebuilt their damage building, but a caved in parts store had the debris removed, but the tarp remains.

JPMorgan Chase Tower in the last three months replaced their missing windows, replaced their sidewalk trees, complete with ground cover and cable stays.  Their garage across the street has not been so swiftly repaired.

    Indianola, Texas

After the storm the town rebuilt, only to be struck by an even more intense hurricane 11 years later. This 1886 Indianola hurricane remains the fifth-most intense hurricane at landfall ever to strike the United States.

After this second hurricane residents abandoned Indianola. Due to storm-caused and other erosion during the last 120 years, the original town of Indianola now lies 10 to 15 feet under Matagorda Bay.

  • Geek LEDs

I was asked if these graffiti LEDs would stay on the car while driving.  Yes they do, even at time conserving freeway speeds.

More LED pictures coming later, next year, possibly.

ST1 too slow. NYC LED too bright.

    Never Too Fast

Zenvo ST1 is excessive in everything except speed.  Some one should tell them there is no such thing as too much, especially in speed.  You can certainly save time with this thing.  See story at blog.Wired.com.

    NYC LED

New York, New York is going LED.  They boast being brighter.  Could save even more electricity if they would lower the light intensity and give star gazers a little more darkness.  More at Wired.com.

Spaceport America has been given the go-ahead by the Federal Aviation Administration. The commercial space flight center, planned for southeastern New Mexico, is intended to be the site of the first suborbital tourist service, run by Virgin Galactic.

  • K-9

There is something about a USB Lego thumbdrive, but a K-9!

So it’s not a USB Flash drive, but Radio Shack sells some amazingly small memory, usable as both USB thumbdrive, via reader, and SD card, via adapter.
